Capabilities

We specialise in the design, manufacture and supply of Industrial computer systems. Many of the chassis forming the basis of the systems are designed in house by our engineering team. Three dimensional modelling and UK / European chassis manufacture enables us to provide quick prototyping samples where required.

Products

A standard range of more than 100 chassis types from 1U-8U incorporating rackmount, desktop , wall mount and tower systems means we have a system for every application. We are also distributors for a wide range of computer components.

Engineering / Approvals

Our Engineering team can also provide assistance with agency testing, including systems incorporating customer’s hardware and software. A full range is available. Including FCC UL CE TUV, GAM EG13, Mil Spec, Shock and Vibration, Thermal testing etc.

Key Features

- Large standard off the shelf product range
- In-house design and manufacture
- OEM custom complete system design
- Full revision control and serial number tracking of all components
- Customer branding with customer Logo and colour choice
- Quick turn-around prototypes, Full agency testing capability
- ISO 9001 – 2008 registered. (Including design control)

Quality

The company is certified to ISO 9001 /2008 for Design and Manufacture. A fully documented quality system is in operation; covering System Build Guides, Revision control, Test and Inspection procedures, Serial Number tracking etc.

> DESIGN

Our in house engineering team use the latest CAD software (Solid Edge) with three dimensional modelling to provide detailed information on system design prior to committing to prototypes. The designs incorporate the requirements for regulatory approvals such as safety, EMC etc, as well as environmental, shock / vibration testing, cooling and thermal requirements.

Our fully documented design process guides the customer from "Concept to Completion" Customers can choose to use a single part number ordering of the fully revision controlled final product.

With relevant milestones and sign off points the design typically starts with an initial concept meeting where all of the design requirements and performance criteria are discussed. Then follows three dimensional drawings and a presentation of the hardware / software selected for the application. Upon customer sign off, preproduction prototypes are manufactured and any changes required are made, at which point approvals testing can take place, prior to full production commencing.

Modifications range from the minor, such as a colour change to a standard product, to full blown Military specification systems

> QUALITY ASSURANCE

Industrial Computers has been assessed and registered by NQA against the provisions of BS EN ISO 9001 : 2008 for the design, integration and supply of industrial computer enclosures, systems and peripherals. Click here to display certification.

All systems, including our standard off the shelf (COTS) systems, have a basic build guide produced. This ensures that we can accurately produce the same system year after year if required. Any changes, perhaps due to upgrade of obsolescence, are completed under full revision control with customer sign off beforehand.

Each system is inspected against this document. 100% of all systems built are subjected to our quality assurance procedures.

The process begins with a High Pot test for electrical safety, followed by a complete visual inspection. This 40 point process incorporates things such as tightness of screws, location of components, neatness of cabling etc.

A detailed test and diagnostic software programme is then run. Not only does this test the operation of the system but loop back testers are used to test, Serial / Parallel / USB ports. A minimum of 10 hours soak time is completed with the diagnostics software checking the system's performance. The test results are then supplied with each system shipped.

As each system has its own unique job number within our system, we are able to fully trace all of the components used as well as who built and tested each item.

> INTEGRATION / MANUFACTURE

At Industrial Computers we fully configure and integrate the majority of products we ship.
On our site you won’t find pre-configured systems but a list of components we use to build your system.
Our highly experienced Sales Engineers can help you define the best system for your application. Whilst we have a number of high volume customers we also ship as little as one system a quarter to others. All follow the same process in our factory. We will help you:

    - Clarify the application and environmental requirements
    - Select the appropriate Chassis
    - Define the Hardware
    - Select the best power supply
    - Add any customer specific / free issue hardware

    - Specify the operating system
    - Define any colour choices / logos required for the product
    - Load and test your application software
    - Agree the environmental and safety requirements
    - Confirm any specific testing requirements

> Ordering

Once the system has been defined, our customers can order using a single part number of their choice, greatly reducing the complexity of the purchase order and simplifying the whole process. This relates to a revision controlled bill of materials at Industrial Computers.

> Obsolescence

When a component becomes obsolete, we advise the customer in advance and provide a time frame for testing of the replacement prior to incorporating it into the system and updating the revision number.

> Change Management

The management of change is critical to most of our customers who require the same product to be delivered over an extended period of time. As a member of the Intel embedded group we are able to offer long life cycles on what would normally be considered an obsolete product.
Typically our range of Industrial Motherboards and Single board computers are available for between five and seven years.

> Traceability

As we bar code all components used in our systems, we are able to advise customers on the status of a product in the field (from the chassis serial number or any serial number used in the chassis).
Phone us with a serial number and within minutes we can tell you about the full build, revision and specification of that system.
Customers find this very useful as it reduces the amount of time and effort they need to spend on recording information about a product sold. Service engineers on the other hand can be fully informed in advance of a customer call out or repair being returned.

> COMPLIANCE TESTING

We have in house facilities for temperature testing and reviewing air flow parameters.

We also offer our customers a fully certified service using external approved test houses such as the BSI Laboratories for Environmental, Electrical and Shock, and Vibration testing, to meet with their requirements.

Some of the tests we have completed are as follows:
FCC, UL, CE, TUV, GAM, EG13, Mil Spec, Shock and Vibration, Thermal testing, and Drop tests, together with Packaging testing.

> DOCUMENTATION

From 1 off to 100 off all orders are processed using the same procedures.

Quotations: Industrial Computers aim to provide all quotations within 24 hours of request.

Upon receipt of the customers order an order acknowledgement is despatched confirming the order has been received and the anticipated delivery date.

Each system on the order is produced with its own internal job number for traceability purposes. Test and inspection forms are produced and held by the company for all systems sold.

A copy of the diagnostic test results is supplied with the unit.

> Build Guides

Our systems are built to meet your needs. Using a revision controlled build guides. We ensure that you get the same product time after time. These guides range from a few pages to fully documented step by step control documents.
